The vision of the Franklin County Public Safety Training Center is to be the premier provider of comprehensive and cutting-edge public safety training, ensuring the highest level of first responder preparedness and professionalism for Franklin County and its surrounding communities. We are committed to fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development,collaborating with local public safety agencies to address evolving challenges and promote a safer environment for all Franklin County residents.

In September 1977, a group of fire chiefs from Franklin County established the Franklin County Fire Chiefs’ Association (FCFCA). The primary goal of the organization was to enhance public education regarding fire prevention and safety measures. Additionally, the group aimed to improve training programs available to first responders and advocate for legislation and policies that promote public
safety. In October 2002, the organization began construction of a training center and burn building, which opened a year later and significantly enhanced the group's ability to train firefighters and emergency responders.

After many years of operation as a fire training center, the FCFCA sought to increase the quantity and diversity of training
offered and the usage of the facility by adding personnel from other public safety disciplines to the training center’s board of
directors. In March 2013, the first law enforcement officer was added. Later that year, a second law enforcement officer was
added, as was a member of the coroner’s office.

As we conclude two decades of training operations at the facility, the Franklin County Public Safety Training Center has initiated a transformative journey towards becoming a true multi-discipline public safety training center by establishing its own non-profit organization, separate from the Fire Chiefs’ Association. This new entity will oversee the training center and be governed by a board of
experienced professionals from various fields, including the fire service, law enforcement, emergency management, emergency medical services, mental health, and local government officials. Their collective vision is to continue a legacy of excellence and growth for the training grounds.
