This 8-hour Assertive Leadership and Supervision course is designed for public safety personnel currently holding formal and informal leadership roles within their agencies. Students learn the differences between assertive, aggressive, and passive leadership and which is best suited to achieving successful outcomes. This course focuses on improving leadership skills and on the ways being more assertive benefits everyone. Students learn to identify their current leadership style and better understand how communication and self-awareness affect it. Throughout this course, students practice a communication style that fosters self-assurance and directness, enabling them to communicate more confidently and effectively. This course provides practical tools and proven techniques to help students explore appropriate responses to different people, situations, and events. It also helps students understand the basics of leadership through sustained operational periods and the development of succession planning.
