Description
This intensive 2-day, 20-hour training combines Interdiction Academy 2.0 and Deceptive Behavioral Detection 2.0 into one comprehensive program designed for law enforcement officers from invesigation to patrol functions.
Day One builds upon those skills by focusing on verbal and non-verbal deception detection. Officers will learn how the prefrontal cortex, limbic system, and temporal lobes influence deceptive behavior; how stress and cultural differences affect communication; and how to establish behavioral baselines and recognize meaningful deviations. Instruction covers the preparation, delivery, defense, and fallout phases of deception, pacifying behaviors, rehearsed versus spontaneous responses, and elicitation strategies that can be applied during roadside and investigative interviews.
Day Two focuses on identifying criminal activity during roadside encounters through criminal driving behavior, vehicle registration patterns, smuggling methods, roadside selection tactics, cover stories, deceptive travel narratives, and effective roadside interviewing. Officers will learn how to recognize indicators commonly associated with criminal activity and develop those observations into reasonable suspicion and probable cause while preparing for courtroom testimony and defense scrutiny.
The combined course is taught by Nick Jackson, a nationally recognized interdiction instructor with over 14 years of law enforcement experience, including a decade dedicated to narcotics and criminal interdiction. His operational experience includes millions of dollars in illicit U.S. currency seized, thousands of kilograms of controlled substances recovered, and hundreds of felony arrests. The training is built around real-world experience, proven interdiction techniques, behavioral science, and courtroom-defensible practices officers can immediately apply in the field.

Officers will leave the training able to identify and articulate deceptive behavior in a way that withstands courtroom scrutiny, ensuring both investigative success and legal defensibility.
