Description
Offered at no cost to law enforcement agencies in partnership with Los Angeles County Department of Military & Veteran Affairs, this CA POST (PSP) and STC-certified Crisis Response Training Involving Veterans & Military Personnel equips officers with practical, field-tested strategies to safely and effectively engage veterans during crisis situations. The course strengthens military cultural awareness, enhances decision-making under stress, and provides veteran-specific de-escalation considerations designed to reduce escalation, improve officer safety, and support better outcomes for those who have served.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
Recognize key elements of military and veteran culture that influence behavior under stress
Identify veteran-specific risk factors, including suicide indicators and reintegration challenges
Apply practical de-escalation and communication strategies tailored to veteran encounters
Improve scene management and decision-making in veteran-involved crisis situations
