Description
In an era of rapidly evolving public safety threats, modern public safety relies heavily on intelligence-led policing to prevent crime and protect communities. This eight-hour course introduces law enforcement professionals to the principles and practices of intelligence analysis in support of public safety, criminal investigations, and homeland security. Participants will transition from theoretical frameworks to practical application by exploring the full intelligence cycle, including data collection, analysis, dissemination, and evaluation, structured analytic techniques (SATs), critical thinking methodologies, and information-sharing practices designed to eliminate cognitive bias and identify emerging threats. Through instructor-led discussions and a tabletop exercise, students will apply analytic methodologies to transform information into actionable intelligence that support operational and strategic decision-making, and address the importance of interagency collaboration, professional integrity, and ethical decision-making in modern intelligence operations.
