About Rick Robertson

Commander Rick Robertson recently retired as a commander with the Aurora (IL) Police Department. He began his law enforcement career in as a Corrections Deputy with the Kane County Sheriff’s Office before joining APD.

Throughout his career, Rick worked in various capacities including Uniformed Patrol, Training, Intel, and the Special Operations Group (Gang and Drug Unit).

He was selected as a member of the Department’s Special Response Team, where he served in as an operator, sniper, master breacher, team leader, and team commander.

Rick is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy (Session #254) and the Harvard Kennedy School for Senior Executives in State and Local Government program.

Commander Robertson’s dedication to his profession led him to gain international experience as well. He traveled to Israel, where he provided low light training at their police academy and trained with the Israeli National Police on counter-terrorism tactics. Currently, Rick is contracted as an instructor by the Homeland Security Training Institute and New Mexico Tech. In addition, he also serves as the vice president and a director for the Synagogue Security Council of North America, a 501(c)(3) organization committed to enhancing the security capabilities of the Jewish community.
