About Detective Patrick McCann

Patrick was hired by the Monroe Police Department in 2017, beginning his career in the Patrol Division, where he served as a Field Training Officer, LEAD Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Youth Academy Instructor, and coordinator of the department’s Holiday Toy Drive benefiting RWJ Children’s Hospital. He is currently assigned to the Detective Bureau, where he serves as the head LEAD Instructor and Youth Academy Instructor while managing a full investigative caseload focused primarily on juvenile cases. As a Juvenile Detective, he handles the full spectrum of juvenile matters—from curbside warnings and stationhouse adjustments to criminal charges—and works closely with the Prosecutor’s Office Juvenile Unit, bringing hands-on experience in juvenile interviews, charging decisions, diversionary programs, school-related threats, and family follow-up resources. A key focus of his work is fostering strong relationships with local schools through consistent presence and engagement, as well as strengthening community trust through programs such as Coffee with a Cop, Holiday Movie Night, LEAD, the Youth Academy, and other community outreach initiatives.
