About Timothy Bauer

Timothy Bauer is a retired law enforcement professional with 26 years of distinguished service in the state of California. Mr. Bauer began his law enforcement career in 1998 with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department. Then he served with the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety before joining the Tracy Police Department, where he dedicated the majority of his career until his retirement in August 2024. Bauer’s assignments included Patrol, Narcotics, Major Crimes, and Field Training Officer. He investigated a broad spectrum of criminal cases, such as missing persons, robberies, abductions, homicides, sexual assaults, and cold cases. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2014 and supervised patrol teams and led several specialized units (Special Enforcement Team, Hostage/Crisis Negotiations Team, and General Investigations Unit). In May 2021, Bauer was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, where he served as a Patrol Watch Commander and later as the Investigations Commander, managing three investigative units.
