About John Bennett

John Bennett is a retired police lieutenant with twenty-eight years of service in Charleston, Illinois. He served as the Master Control Tactics Instructor for the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Center and as a field assistant with the Southern Illinois Criminal Justice Training Program. John currently instructs for MCLETC, MTU 15, and LSU’s National Center for Biomedical Research and Training. He has taught DHS and FEMA certified courses in instructor development, domestic and homegrown violent extremism, complex coordinated terrorist attack response, and de-escalation. His background includes policy development, case law application, and the integration of policy into real world training environments. His experience as a firearms, control tactics, and CEW instructor provides a balanced, practical approach to professional policing and constitutional training standards.
