About Lou Savelli
Sgt. Lou Savelli, NYPD (retired) has spent 25 years as a police officer working some of the most dangerous streets in NYC. He retired as the detective squad supervisor of the Terrorist Interdiction Unit (TIU) created on September 11th, 2001, to aggressively hunt down al Qaeda terrorists threatening New York City and those responsible for the attacks of September 11th, 2001. He created NYPD's first citywide gang unit called CAGE (Citywide Anti-Gang Enforcement) which was awarded the Most Effective Gang Unit in the US by the National Gang Crime Research Center. He and his unit conducted several Conspiracy and RICO investigations on gangs such as the Latin Kings, Bloods and Crips. He has arrested thousands of violent and murderous gang members armed with firearms and has personally seized several hundred firearms from armed suspects in the streets, many through his own personal observations of armed suspect characteristics. Lou was one of 3 primary technical consultants for the Gangland TV series for the History Channel and appeared on several episodes. He was also featured on the History Channel’s 2-hour TV Special, The Secrets of Body Language for which he exposed Armed Suspect Characteristics and Danger Signs. Lou Savelli has trained police officers and other law enforcement officers across the globe on the methodology to recognize armed suspects.
