About Austin Porter
Austin Porter began his law enforcement career with the Rock Springs Police Department, in November of 2018 as a Patrol Officer. Austin was hired by the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation in 2023.
Austin is a former member of the Eastern Montana Drug Task Force and now is a Narcotics Agent/ Narcotics Interdiction Agent based in Great Falls, MT. Austin is a member of the Montana Narcotic Officer’s Association. Austin is a certified Clandestine Lab Response Officer.
Austin currently holds a Montana and Wyoming POST certificate and has extensive training and experience regarding dangerous drug violations. This training and experience are specifically related to:
-Confidential Informant related investigations
-Undercover investigations
-Clandestine Lab investigations

- Child endangerment investigations
-Asset forfeiture and evidence destruction process

Austin studied Education and Criminal Justice at Western Wyoming Community College. Notable Achievements at the RSPD include being selected as A TASER Instructor and Field Training Officer, for the department. Austin was nominated for Patrol Officer of the year in 2020, and 2022. Austin created the Top Ten warrants program and actively led the department in warrant arrests. Austin was Selected as Chairmen of the RSPD Leadership Team in 2021. Austin was selected as the Rock Springs Junior High School Resource Officer in 2022. Austin Received a Certificate of Commendation in 2023, and 2024.
