Megan McDonald — Instructor Profile
About Megan McDonald
Deputy Megan McDonald has more than nine years of policing experience with the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, and now works in the private sector.
The majority of Megan’s law enforcement career was working in the Patrol Division, but has also worked in the Courts and in the Lockup Unit at Regions Hospital in St Paul, MN. Megan was a member of her department’s Mobile Field Force, which is specially trained and equipped for riot and crowd control.
In April of 2018, Megan was awarded a Class C Commendation for coming to the rescue of a woman who had been trapped inside a house fire. She assisted with the evacuation and provided medical aid to the woman, who had suffered smoke inhalation. If not for the actions of Megan, and others on scene, the woman would not likely have survived the incident.
Megan has been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) since May 2014 and holds the rank of purple belt under Alliance black belt Damian Hirtz. Megan has competed locally and nationally at the MNBJJF Winter Open, St. Croix Valley Grappling Games, IBJJF Chicago Spring Open and the World Masters competition in Las Vegas, NV. Megan has taken Gold and multiple Silver Medals in BJJ competitions.
Megan received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Criminology from the University of Denver Colorado in 2008. She returned home to Minnesota and received a Law Enforcement Certificate from Metropolitan State University in 2010.
