About Paul Banach

Paul Banach dedicated 30 years to law enforcement with the Monroe Township Police Department in Middlesex County, New Jersey, rising to the rank of Patrol Division Commander after serving 13 years as a detective. Throughout his tenure, he also contributed as a defensive tactics and in-service trainer and received numerous commendations and awards for his service.

Transitioning to Penn State for the past 17 years, Paul has held multiple roles. He spent eight years as an instructor and curriculum developer for the Pennsylvania Sheriff’s Deputy Academy, where he created and delivered training in use of force, patrol procedures, scenario development, and criminal procedure. Subsequently joining the CJPT unit, Paul continues to serve as an instructor and curriculum developer across various courses. His expertise encompasses problem-based learning, leadership, supervision, field training, and use of force.

Paul holds certifications in problem-based learning and as a Force Science Analyst. Paul's experience extends beyond Pennsylvania, including a role as training director for the Baltimore City Police Department. While at Penn State, he also collaborated with the Department of State and the Moroccan National Police, developing problem-based learning curricula for first responders to critical incidents.

Paul's academic foundation includes a bachelor of science in criminal justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice (New York City) and a master of administrative science degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University (New Jersey). Paul is also a member of the Association for Talent Development (ATD), a nonprofit professional membership organization that supports individuals who develop the knowledge and skills of employees in organizations worldwide.
