About Phillip Faulkner

Phillip began instructing for IPTM in 2023. He began my career in law enforcement in 1998. Phillip was a Correctional Officer with the Alabama Department of Corrections. His duties consisted of the day-to-day operations inside a medium security prison, controlling the movement and activities of 1100 inmates.

In 2003, Phillip gained employment with the Alabama Department of Public Safety. During his tenure, he was privileged with attending not only the basic academy curriculum, but also At- Scene Traffic Crash Investigation, Basic I Traffic Homicide Investigations, Advanced Traffic Homicide Investigations and Traffic Crash Reconstruction. But it did not stop there. He has achieved about 160 hours of Interview and Interrogation I/II and has certifications in CDR Technician and Analyst for passenger vehicles as well as Heavy Vehicle EDR applications. Phillip also currently holds certifications as a train the trainer for the Faro Zone 3D CAD software program, a certified instructor in EVOC, HCG and Defensive Driving. In 2022, he achieved his certification as a P.I.T instructor through the Ohio State Patrol.

Since 2009, he has assisted in the instructions of both At-Scene and Basic Traffic Homicide courses to numerous officers throughout the State of Alabama. He received an academic instructor certification from Gunter Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama in 2007.

Phillips certifications and training have privileged me to be certified as an expert in the field of crash reconstruction in several circuit courts of Alabama, as well as a certified traffic crash reconstructionist. This training and experience have enabled him to oversee 15 Traffic Homicide Investigators with a coverage of 10 counties as well as oversee the Faro Zone 3D CAD/ Animation software program as the state coordinator where his responsibilities were to train, observe and monitor the proficiency of those investigators. During his tenure as an Alabama State Trooper, he has investigated over 200 fatal crashes where criminal charges were warranted and has assisted as a consultant to several investigations with other investigators, and /or agencies. He has 17 years of experience in the above-mentioned training fields. Phillip officially retired on May 1, 2023, as rank of Corporal.
