This course provides participants an understanding of the legal definitions of cause, manner, and mechanism of death, as well as the investigative process necessary to accurately determine the circumstances surrounding a death. Participants will learn to identify a wide variety of injuries, understand the role of the coroner/medical examiner, and apply coordinated investigative practices to ensure thorough and defensible case outcomes.
The program also explores the origins of the coroner-medical legal system, the importance of utilizing trained forensic pathologists, and the integration of forensic resources to enhance investigative accuracy.
