About Adam Draisen

Lieutenant Draisen is a 21-year law enforcement veteran with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina. He has experience in leadership, administrative, and managerial roles. Lieutenant Draisen is currently assigned as the General Sessions Court Coordinator and Special Investigator with the agency’s Office of Professional Responsibility. As General Sessions Coordinator, he reviews all felony cases being prosecuted and presents these cases to the Grand Jury for indictment. Additionally, as a Special Investigator, he is the primary officer responsible for investigating complaints against officers and ensuring investigations follow established laws, policies, and procedures in the internal affairs process.

Lieutenant Draisen began his law enforcement career in 2003 as an officer assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division at the Cobb County Police Department in Georgia. After working several precincts outside the metro Atlanta area, he continued his law enforcement career at the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office in 2006. In 2013, Lieutenant Draisen was promoted to Sergeant and assigned to supervise as a first-line supervisor in the Uniform Patrol Section.

In 2015, Lieutenant Draisen was selected to transfer to the Criminal Investigations Section. In this role, he was responsible for investigating various crimes ranging from sexual assaults to homicides. In 2018, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant and assigned to command a patrol team. In 2019, Lieutenant Draisen was promoted to Master Sergeant and assigned to the Enforcement Division. In this role, he oversaw and supervised the Uniform Patrol and Criminal Investigations Sections. In 2024, he was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned as the General Sessions Court Coordinator and Special Investigator with the Office of Professional Responsibility. Lieutenant Draisen has held various collateral duties, including Field Training Officer, Drug Recognition Expert, Standardized Field Sobriety Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Firearm Instructor, and Tactical Team Operator.

Lieutenant Draisen holds a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Public Administration from Liberty University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Park University. He has completed various command-level courses, including the Command Leadership Institute from FBI LEEDA, Strategic Management from the Southern Police Institute, and the FBI’s Carolina Command College.
