About Zaki Hazou
Zaki Hazou is a proud Ohioan with a strong interest in Fourth Amendment law. He is particularly passionate about helping law enforcement officers understand the legal principles that guide their everyday work, especially in the areas of search and seizure.
Zaki began his career in law enforcement as a Patrol Officer in Strongsville, Ohio, and currently serves as a Detective with the Strongsville Police Department. In addition to his investigative duties, he oversees the department’s legal training programs, including in-service training, legal refreshers for new officers, and state-mandated continuing legal education. He also teaches criminal law courses at a police academy in Middleburg Heights, Ohio.
Before entering law enforcement, Zaki served in the U.S. Army. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Kent State University, a master’s degree in Legal Studies with a focus on Criminal Law from Cleveland State University College of Law, and a master’s degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Criminal Justice Organizations from The Ohio State University. He is multilingual and a strong advocate for cultural competence in policing.
