Passionate instructor who uses his own experiences from youth and also vast knowledge of culture to teach about extremist ideology.

This class should be trained to every officer so they can have an understanding of the history of the middle eastern culture and how it differs between each country along with the religions within the countries. There is so much to learn, it's hard to compact it into a few days. This isn't just a typical law enforcement training class but a history lesson that will challenge the student to learn more on the topics. The public should and can take this class too. The shocking truth of how these extremist groups indoctrinate children and adults to spread propaganda to them is eye-opening and should be known to everyone. The fact Shawn has first hand knowledge of the culture is critical to the class and is taught in a fashion, anyone can comprehend.

Mules and Martyrs was a really eye-opening class that gave me a better understanding of Muslim culture and how it differs from extremist beliefs. It helped clear up a lot of misconceptions and gave practical info on how radicalization happens and what signs to look for. I feel more prepared to spot potential threats while still being respectful and aware of cultural differences. Overall, it was a solid class that made me more confident in handling situations involving possible terrorist activity.
