Description
Making a traffic stop is one of the most common—and sometimes most legally tricky—things cops do. This course helps officers sharpen their skills in making stops that are both effective and legally solid. You’ll get a handle on the real-world application of constitutional principles so your stops hold up in court and build trust with the community. You’ll learn the nuts and bolts of key traffic stop topics—like the motor vehicle exception, pretext stops, vehicle searches, and passenger questioning. We’ll also cover the big court decisions that shape how you do your job, and dig into things like K9 sniffs, inventories, and probable cause searches.
