About Josh
Josh has been a cop for 13 years and has been on multiple units to include street crimes, tactical anti-crime, SWAT, and most recently with an Auto Theft unit in one of Florida’s largest cities. The Auto Theft Unit is an undercover operational detective unit tasked with the surveillance and apprehension of felony vehicles and suspects. Due to the nature of work for the unit, we are also tasked with assisting other units by conducting surveillance, intel collection, in-progress crimes and apprehension to support investigations. We have planned and coordinated thousands of in-progress apprehensions on a wide range of crimes from stolen vehicles, construction site thefts, and home invasions, to residential and commercial burglaries and robberies. In 2024 alone our unit averaged 2 vehicle takedowns a day. We are considered the SME for surveillance, VCT, and responsible for teaching other units the tactics and techniques we employ. We have been successfully employing vehicle control tactics for over 20 years on a regular basis at both the patrol and unmarked level to prevent pursuits and apprehend suspects.
