Description
Generative AI for Law Enforcement is a two-day, hands-on course designed to give law enforcement professionals a practical understanding of artificial intelligence, how it is already impacting policing, and how agencies can use it responsibly.
Students will explore the foundations of generative AI and examine real-world applications including OSINT, digital forensics, translation, report writing, and investigative support. The course compares leading AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Microsoft Copilot while addressing data security, CJIS considerations, local versus cloud deployment, and emerging open-weight AI models.
Special attention is given to the legal and evidentiary challenges surrounding AI, including Fourth Amendment considerations, Brady/Giglio, Daubert standards, chain of custody, wrongful-arrest risks, and maintaining the integrity of AI-assisted work.
Students will also learn techniques for identifying AI-generated content and deepfakes, examine emerging technologies such as C2PA and SynthID, and discuss practical approaches to agency policy, oversight, governance, and responsible AI implementation.
