Description

Designed for first-line supervisors, this course provides students with a fundamental understanding of how leadership foundations and principles impact management and supervision. This course utilizes breakout team exercises to help students develop a true understanding of approaches and practices that drive motivation, employee buy-in, better communication, motivation, and positive morale.

Course Objectives:

Differentiate between principles of management and leadership, including various leadership styles.
Explain the five components of self-leadership (Pentagon of Self-Leadership).
Demonstrate effective communication techniques and the proper method of giving orders.
Describe the supervisor’s role in training and maintaining operational readiness.
Apply team-building strategies and techniques for leading up the chain of command.
Evaluate the impact of employee evaluations on professional development.
Assess the importance of positive leadership and its influence on team culture.
Analyze key motivators that influence employee performance and engagement.
