Public Safety Instructor Development

This comprehensive three-day course is designed to provide participants with a foundational understanding of instructional methodology, presentation techniques, and facilitation skills. The program equips students with the knowledge and practical tools needed to effectively plan, develop, and deliver training to law enforcement professionals within their agencies and organizations.

Throughout the course, participants will create and refine a block of instruction while developing the teaching competencies necessary to engage adult learners and facilitate meaningful learning experiences. Emphasis is placed on both instructional theory and practical application, providing students with valuable hands-on opportunities to enhance their effectiveness as trainers, instructors, and facilitators in a variety of professional learning environments.

Course Objectives:

Identify the essential components of lesson planning, course design, and instructional development.
Differentiate between adult learning principles, learning styles, and instructional methodologies, and apply them to classroom environments.
Demonstrate effective teaching, training, and facilitation techniques utilizing a variety of instructional resources, technologies, and media.
Apply best practices in classroom presentation, facilitation, and learner engagement to effectively deliver course content.
Design and develop a comprehensive lesson plan and deliver a brief media-supported instructional presentation on a selected topic.
Evaluate instructional effectiveness and incorporate feedback to improve training delivery and learner outcomes.
