This 3-day course provides a comprehensive overview of all phases of internal affairs investigations, from allegation to disciplinary appeal. Participants will explore best practices, industry standards, and effective strategies for managing internal affairs cases
and related proceedings. Instruction emphasizes legal considerations, administrative procedures, and sound investigative strategy. Due process obligations under the U.S. Constitution and relevant state authorities will be addressed, along with key legal precedents including Garrity, Weingarten, Loudermill, and other significant court decisions.
