Description
THIRD IN A SERIES OF THREE COURSES
The third in a series of three progressive courses, IPTM’s Hostage Crisis Negotiations–Level III course has been developed to further enhance your negotiation skills while affording the team leader an opportunity to develop or hone the skills necessary to lead a team during complex negotiations.
We will explore the roles of the team leader, including development and management of the team, team operation, and interaction with command and tactical personnel. Methods for creating and implementing a rigorous training day for the agency negotiation team will be examined–from developing ideas and scenarios to the training announcement.
You will gain an in-depth understanding of how rapport and empathy impact the negotiator and the negotiation process. We will also discuss how the growing impact of today’s technology and communication tools–such as social media–can affect negotiations.
A presentation by a special operations wounded warrior will help us examine the effects of PTSD and methods of responding to it.
Audience
Sworn members of law enforcement and corrections, hostage negotiators, patrol officers, military investigative personnel, non-law enforcement members of a crisis negotiation team, mental health professionals, and clergy members supporting law enforcement activities. Requests for exceptions must be approved by IPTM.
This course is restricted to sworn and non-sworn law enforcement personnel.
